Amen. You can do anything you want if you have the tools/time/talent and ambition to do so. Like cfvwtuner said it should be a simple process just take your time and double check before you drill anything. |

| The Euro Supers came in a variety of trim and some included the pad. The 1302L and 1302LS had the pad -- L indicating the trim level that included the package. The US trim level of the Super was closer to the Euro LS. |

The Bottom line Euro (which had no pad) looked like this:
Do you see any place for chrome trim? That's because there wasn't any.
No hater here. Just a realist. Statistical changes of this vehicle being up for sale again in 2 year (after a lot of chopping) approaches a certainty. The more 'I want to make it look older, 'cause those were cooler', the greater the chances of failure. Ask me how I know.
BTW, good luck with the dash vents. those should be fun to source, if you're interested in a 'clean' and 'complete' conversion.

That happens to be a Scandanavian ad (just for info's sake)
My wife is German (born and raised). Her uncle's 71 1302 (super w/60hp) came with chrome trim on the dash. I saw pictures of it (gotta love polaroids), when I was in Switzerland visiting them, inside and out and there was chrome trim on the dash. I cant recall the exact placement, but I remember it because we compared his pictures to mine which were on my computer and he was asking about the padding on mine. |

I did say 'euro'. By that I meant the NON US export market. Good catch on my imprecision.
Never the less, I've spent 12 years researching the SB, and in all of the multi-lingual lit I've seen, I've NEVER seen chrome on the interior. Never.
That doesn't mean a relation's 1302 can't have it. It just means I've never seen any evidence that they came that way from the factory. You may have a dealer who decided to pimp up a 1302 without going to the 1302L or LS with the padded dash. ECONOMOTORS did it with the GTV. There's no reason other dealers couldn't, too.
If anyone has any product literature to the contrary, I'd be happy to see it. Otherwise, I think my comment stands. |
