I am considering getting some new Cv joints for my bug. I have type 2 stubs on tranny and wheel now and it appears from my reading up that the type 4 is the same size but has more articulation. So my question is this a simple bolt on since i have the type 2 stubs?

and where do i buy? I didnt find a lot of people selling these and the 2 i found are way different in price. Any body give me some insight here

yes they will bolt right on in your application so its an easy swap.

the prices are almost the same.
remember that the CSP price is in Euro and not Dollars
the euro is about $1.50 right now.

we sell those joints too for $110 if you need them

If you go with the EMPI flavor (pn 90-6905) you can get the half axle assembly (2 CVs, 2 boots, on the axle) for less.

Dans has them for $110.

Amazon is selling them for $55

i think i would stay away from that kit and price very suspect along with the manufacturers fine reputation. unless someone here has stress tested them My last type 2 cv joint was 89 bucks

I have SAW axles i would keep

Interesting discussion but i dont think i could bring myself to use empi on such an important part. The german cv's i have have lasted about 50K miles with occasional clicking and my boots dried out cause they were 25 years old. i replaced 1 cv on the last rebuild that looked worn but i still have some clicking. I think i'll go for german ones and german boots when i replace and upgrade to the type 4... but damn for a $110 bucks i may buy one of those axle sets to keep in the back seat for a spare

thanks for the info
