Well I'm a new member today with a question. My ignition was drilled out and I was using a screwdriver to start it. Well that stopped working, so I unplugged the ignition from the switch to "Hot Wire" it. Bad idea. Now I get nothing. At least before I got the RED Lights. Now I get zip. Any help would be appriciated. What do I need?

Come on, help!

First place I would start is to check all the fuses. My car had a large fuse right by the battery, which im assuming is the main power fuse. If that is good get a multimeter or test light and see if you have power coming in to the switch. If you do a search there are wiring diagrams around here somewhere that will make the job a bit easier.

Hmmm, good place to start. I knew there had to be a relay or fuse somewhere. Ok I'm going to check. Here's a pic of the BUG.

Nope fuse good, but my horn relay looked like burnt toast. Could that be it?

Doesnt hurt to replace any electrical components that are not functioning. I dont believe that is the cause of your problems. Your ignition switch might be corroded/broken and finally just gave up the ghost.

Check here http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiringt1.php for your bug to find what color wires you need to look for under there. If you have a test light it will help your troubleshooting greatly.
