so i am working on getting an adjustable beam put in my bus. from working with bugs i found that you only needed to release one of the bjs and then the grub screws and the torsion arms would pull free. well i did that to the bus and neither of them will budge. looking at the pics is there anything i am missing? or are there any tricks to pulling the arms out? thanks ladies and gents

| Removing the sway bar and the lower bump stop may help  |

First, you need to get a Bentley!
But as I just did this yesterday I can help you out.
On the upper you need to use a jack or a lever to lift it off of the bump stop, then take the bump stop off. It will work without this, but is easier with it out. Be careful because there is a fair amount of pressure there. Then you just have to get a heavy hammer and carefully pound it out until it gets free of the bump stop. Then it will come right out.
The lower will come right out as soon as you get the sway bar loose from the grommets.
You will have to bend up the tab on the clamp, then drive the clamp off. |

Jack up the top arm so that you can remove the top bump stop. And it will still take a lot of prying to get the arm out.
Like BD say's it will help if you if you detach the sway bar. That's funny, |

Go get a Bentley and read it. You cannot use Bug logic on your Bus.
Not meaning disrespect but you have so many errors here that you need to take a deep breath.
Is it on safety stands on hard ground or concrete?
You need to get under it and remove the sway bar.
You need to remove the bump stops (carefully if you want to keeo your fingers.)
Get the shock out of the way. |

| I would actually reccomend not touching the shock, as the odds of ruining it in attempting to move it are high. the steel sleeve, in my experience, tends to fuse to the stud and remove itself from the rubber bushing on removal. |
