| howdy all. I'm buying a 74 super beetle.I'm getting it pretty cheap because 3rd gear is out.it has 2nd and 4th but 3rd just revs,is it a bushing or will i need a rebuild?? |

The trans has to come apart for a rebuild.
Sounds like the synchro hub has spun on the gear. The fix is a 3rd gear swap. |

| irs transmissions are a dime a dozen, just swap it out. |

The newest ones are 30 years old.
Most of the used ones you find are worn out. |
