Does anyone know where I can buy the radio Antenna that has the metal base? I have searched around and the only ones I have seen are plastic. I installed a new one on my 71 and it is already cracked. All the ones I have seen on Samba are plastic.

Says it's chrome. Not sure if it is metal or chromed plastic. |

Weird. I have the black plastic one that I put on about 5 years ago. It still looks new, and I live in the desert. 8)

Most car audio places would have that. I bought one for a bug a few years back, with a metal base. It was a generic, after-market antenna, and it looked 90% like stock, except that it had a big spring at the base, which was fine with me. They are pretty standard, in my experience.

Might check out the Harada "TP20D" model. It's a triway, for CB and AM-FM as well. http://www.oem-auto-accessory.com/harada_antennas_click_here_for_harada_product_guide.html Once there, you can click on the "CB & TRIWAY" hyperlink to get to the actual page(s) for those antennas (antennae?). Metal base looks closer to the original bus antennas IMHO.

You would have to call Airheadparts to find out if their chrome antenna is metal or plastic.

Sorry for junk link above. This should make it possible to link to the TP20D or the spring base unit TL20. http://www.oem-auto-accessory.com/harada_antennas_click_here_for_harada_product_guide.html Once there, you can click on the "CB & TRIWAY" hyperlink to get to the actual page(s) for those antennas (antennae?).

Some Toyota RAV4's have an antennae that might be easily adaptable to a Bay. The base has a similar angle and it has one of the flexible wound whips. A few other cars use the same style. I missed one recently when my local yard crushed all their cars before I got back to get the one they had.
