I noticed as I was stripping 2 Westy's, one a 70 and the other a 71, that the pop top had a hook mechanism at the front (low side). It consisted of a band steel hook screwed into the front roof (center) and a metal strap with a hook that screwed into the pop top itself.
My question is; was this something particular to the Westy's after 1968? My 68 did not have either piece, and I am curious if this was installed to keep the pop top front down while driving?
Does any one have a photo of this when the top is raised? I want to take the parts from the later tops I have and mount them on my 68.
Thank you for any help or information. |
