| Great Grandfather was Irish and his name was John but he spelled it Jno, is that an old time Irish or may be Gaelic way of spelling John? |

No it was not abbreviated he always spelled his name Jno, I have his old front door name plate and its Jno, strange I was hoping someone in Ireland would have a logical answer for the strange way of spelling John...

| The Irish for John is Seán. Never saw or heard of Jno. What was his last name? Maybe it is his initials? |

| Never seen John spelt like that before. Have seen it spelt Jon though but never Jno |
