Great Grandfather was Irish and his name was John but he spelled it Jno, is that an old time Irish or may be Gaelic way of spelling John? |

I've never seen that name used, it wasn't just abbreviated for official records? |

The Irish for John is Seán. Never saw or heard of Jno. What was his last name? Maybe it is his initials? |
