| I have a 73 super and I just put in a new gas tank, (the po had a boat gas tank in the car) with the new tank in the car I am trying to trouble shoot the gauge before filling up the car. I was able to get the gauge to move by grounding the sending wire so I believe that tells me that the gauge and vib should be working. My problem is I am wondering if anyone knows how much gas would have to be in the tank before the gauge would move? I only have about a gallon or so in the tank but I did not want to fill the tank and then have to pull the sending unit out to replace. Any help? |

I just pulled my tank last month for cleaning, the guage and sending unit are attached to the top of the tank, so you can put as much gas as you feel like is enough to test the guage. Simple matter to pull said guage out the top if it needs to be replaced.
