Excellent, I'm 19 and have been working on a 75 bug for the past year. It has been a lot of fun and a lot of trouble but I've learned a lot.
I can see where that other guy was coming from saying he didn't want to sell his bug. I don't know if I'll ever sell mine. I plan on having a lot more times in that car for sure.
Best of luck to you man! |

It's a single stage urethane. It was supposed to be flat black but its more of a satin.

Hell yeah guys! It's been twenty years since I got my first VW, and they're still as fun as that day I first twisted the key.
Thanks for a shot of inspiration! |

Hmm you're sort of lucky...when I first twisted the key on mine nothing happened. :?

| Congrats on the bug. I'm jealous - I'm 40 and just started working on VW's a couple of years ago and love it. I guess I wasted my teenage years chasing girls and playing sports. |

| Yeah, wasted is too strong a word. Definitely enjoyed myself back then, I just regret not getting into VW's sooner. |

| I'm just glad to see a 14 year old doing something productive. You have a good foundation to start from. At your age money may be an issue, but free time and determination shouldn't be. I wish someone had given me a bug at that age, and I would be a better mechanic now. Keep us posted, and let us know if you need something. I imagine most of us have some spare parts we could donate. :) |

| Great project, and good luck with it, I'm 16 and its cool to see other kids close to my age are working on their cars too. Like you've been told, you'll hate it and love it..and don't give up on it either. I just had to pull my newly rebuild engine again to replace the rod bearings..but keep with it, good luck...Also use this site religiously, the guys here and all great and are more than happy to help you out with any bumps the may occur. |

 I hope there is another letter before the "H" because if it is just an H..you engine # indicates its between August 1967 and December 1967 making it, I believe a "1968" engine...but the 1600cc didn't start until August of 1969..do you have any pictures of the heads..or of the number that's stamped on there?
 Sorry I didn't ready clearly that it was a 1968..I thought that it was a 70's model...my bad.. |
