Hi. I have a 1972 Super Beetle. I cannot find the fuse box, if there is one. Where would it be located on the car? I also need to find a stock replacement one if it's missing or bad.
Oh, and my $50 baja bug project is coming along. We finally have the back cut baja style and now we are getting to the front. Anyone need some metal parts from it? Use it for patching metal, model VW, anything you want. I am selling it for $30 WITH a used and kinda rusted stock rear bumper. Still good if you need a temp replacement. Pick up only in Sacramento, CA. |

Above your right knee as you sit in the driver seat. The 1972 owner's manual doesn't show it, so I used the 71:

It is right above your left knee if you're sitting in the driver's seat, to th left of the steering column. It may have a very yellowed plastic cover on it that is supposed to be clear.
EDIT: scratch that, the other side of the steering column. Yellowed cover still applies. |

You're in California; did that VW ever have dealer-installed air-conditioning? If so, the fuse box would have been raised up into the trunk, and the fuses face down, maybe two inches up from where it was originally. This was so the evaporator could mount under hte dash.
Those fuses were tough to get to. |

| I don't know if it had dealer installed AC. There is a black air unit thing i think under the hood with controls coming from the dash like cables and stuff. |
