PO installed a 1600DP in a 69 standard bug, looking at the spark plug leads (have the engine out) they don't fit into the holes.
Is there a special type end for the plug wire so it will fit the hole snugly?

| Are you saying the plug leads won't fit "snugly" into the chambers in the head? They won't. The leads just clip to the stud on the spark plugs (don't screw that little metal cap onto the stud when you install the plugs). There should be a flati-ish rubber boot at the end of the plug wire, which covers the spark plug and the opening to the chamber. Kinda stabilizes the plug wire, too. |

Yes there are rubber ends with a flat area but when it snaps onto the plug it is still one quarter inch or more away from the sheet metal that surrounds the plug and even greater distance on the center next to the intake manifold.

On mine, anyway, those parts slide over the boot that has the spark plug connector. Once the wire is connected to the spark plug, you push it down the inner boot until it's flush with the sheet metal. |

The plugs are NGK D8EA, PO left a note that these are special plugs, not sure why. The heads have larger valves PO said.
The wires ends look like an older style for SP head.
Wolfgang Intr. has a set with seals that I located on line.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

edit: these ends are fixed , won't slide at all. |
