Go with me on this one...
3x3 arms, 930 CVs, T1 tranny with 930 flanges. Not counting the torsion housing, how far forward could I move the tranny without binding the CVs? Thanks!

that all depends on how much travel you're hoping for. you can set it up for minimal travel that would move your transmission forward the furthest, but moving it forward at all will cause your CVs to bind sooner and reduce your travel

I forgot to mention that the output flanges are level with the stub flanges and there would only be a few inches of travel. (Don't ask, I'm just building something wacky in the back yard!)

at a point so that the the axle stays within the 25 degrees range of the cv throughout the range of movement

I'd guess 4 or 5 " max

you should be able to take some measurements and figure it out

Just thought I'd ask in case someone already tried it.

One could always go mid-engine, or maybe work out some sort of chain driven jackshaft setup. . .

We might be more help if we knew what you wanted to do. 8)

I'm doodling in AutoCAD and came up with a nutty idea. Wide suspension (3x3 arms rear, a-arm front) and some fat tires (Think Hoosier 33x21.5x15 rear and 29x18.5x15 front). Move the engine and tranny forward and move the seats back so the tranny is almost at your hip. Drop the seats down so they are only about 5" off the ground and give it a wheelbase under 80".
Kinda like a hot wheels go-kart on steroids.
Yes, I know I need professional help but I also know a lot of you are now thinking about it! :D

I've built a lot and all at the same time. I'll probably finish them pretty close together then everyone will ask, "How did he build so many so quickly?"
