| Assuming you keep stock wheels you can go with 235/75/15's or 7.00 15, although you will most likely rub the headlight bucket so 215/75/15's might be better up front. Not sure with the 3" body lift, probably slightly larger through. Either way I would suggest cut & turn up front and re-index the rear (use the search, lots of info). |

Then it kinda depends...
I have 5.5" wheels (look like stock ones) and 3" lift spindles in the front and I get some slight rubbing front & rear at full compression... nothing that would damage the tire or the fender though. |

| My car is almost identical to AZ bug's, but I have 4-1/2" stock wheels. No rub in the front. The rear just rubs the inner lip a bit, but no noise or any chance of damage. 3-1/2" spindles and reindexed rear - don't know how much. |

| i was just wondering what my options are. cause i want to off road it. when i say off road a mean in some pretty bad mud holes. thats why i want to put the biggest tire under it a can without of course losing to much power |

x2. my 1972 project started with 700x15s on stock wheels all the way around. 1/2 inch cut and turn in the front (which is about max) and 2 outer spline with a 1/2 notch in the springplate turn in the rear. wheel/tire to fender clearance was not a issue.
later when my project changed directions i had two 700x15s on 6 inch wide chevy rims with adaptors that i put on the back. they do stick out a little but i plan to baseball bat roll the fender and with the stiff suspension, i shouldnt have trouble.

Well, I have 31" x 10.5" tires on the rear of my 68' Baja. Couldn't go any bigger without going to longer arms since mine has the long torsion bars. As it is the 31" tires have less than a 1/2" clearance between the tread and the torsion bar.
Can't remember the tire size on the front but I know I have 7" wide tires/wheel. I think they're 215/65 15 but I'll have to check to be sure. I plan to get a taller tire next time around. |
