Here's what i started with two days ago

Nachodaddy77 Sat Nov 14, 2009 8:04 am

I sold most of the stock parts to finance this build.
so far everything has been used parts ive found a one piecefront clip w/rear fenders and cowl, s&s 1 5/8 header (needs a baffle tho), kadron carbs to be installed later, and thats it so far

I need wheels badly but dont want to pay 89 a wheel so i have to run these lo pro 8spokes for now and i need bumpers even more.

also anyone have pics of onepiece front mounts its my first one ive built two bajas before but they had a 7 piece kits.

i started stripping the rear first it was the easiest so i started there

Nachodaddy77 Sat Nov 14, 2009 8:12 am

here is the finished rear (so i thought)

Nachodaddy77 Sat Nov 14, 2009 8:16 am

so i went to install my s&s header and i realized that i didnt cut the panel under the rear package tray so i did temp cuts cause i had to hear it run. so today out comes the motor and more cuts. heres a pic of the header installed

i also painted the fenders and cowl black so they kinda match

Nachodaddy77 Sat Nov 14, 2009 8:21 am

here are pics of the front mocked up but im stuck till i get or make bumpers cause im thinking of running the front mounts off the bumper

yeah thats what mine lookis like. im pulling the motor today and re cut it i just cant stand how it looks

chubby53 Sat Nov 14, 2009 2:45 pm

i usually get rid of that whole section. makes it easier to work in the car when your in a pinch.

Richieboy Sat Nov 14, 2009 5:31 pm

I cut mine off like this, its so much nicer to work on now.

Nachodaddy77 Sat Nov 14, 2009 6:27 pm

yeah i just cut all that out. anybody know what that swaybar thing on a swingaxle in the rear does and can i cut it out. i cut it out of my 68 but idk if its good or bad

I have herd that on offroad cars you dont need it. cut it out

Nachodaddy77 Sun Nov 15, 2009 11:02 am

i was just thinking that the bar might stop wheel tuck but just a thought. anyway i finished the front mount i would put up pics but it didnt come out well and plan to rebuild it, but a old guy once told me "If you dont fix it now, temp. repairs usually become perment."

Nachodaddy77 Sun Nov 15, 2009 5:43 pm

got the rear lights working today had to use the stock ones for now cause they were free. also i found out they groung throught the fenders so i had to run a wite from the housing bolts to a fender bolt to get them to work.

found a rear bumper and a different exaust for $40 just in my budget.

still need wheels, anyone in the sacramento area have any? i need atleast the rears and i can run stocks in the front

The development looks good even if you just have a tight budget. Good job!

Nachodaddy77 Mon Nov 16, 2009 8:02 am

thanks Im calling this the Craigslist Baja cause every part has been bought off there. i think i have found some wheels and other little parts off a guy in modesto and found some lights off cl so it will be a proper baja by the end of the week i hope

Nachodaddy77 Mon Nov 16, 2009 12:24 pm

got my new to me bumper and started fitting it but that damn z bar is in the way so a little eyeball engineering and im going to mount it to the firewall.

chubby53 Mon Nov 16, 2009 12:30 pm

if your not tying it to a cage, i would pick up some new tubing and bend it to fit to go to your shock towers. the thought of having your firewall ripped apart or bent to crap sucks.

Nachodaddy77 Mon Nov 16, 2009 12:31 pm

I actually like the way this is going to mount better that the factory firewall mount. the factory puts it too close to the tins unless you use a 36hp tin. just my opinion

im really suprised i havent heard anybody ask why i cut up a 67. this guy i sold the bumpers to said "I feel like crying".LOL!

Nachodaddy77 Mon Nov 16, 2009 9:25 pm

im going to cage it just not right now. so im building everything with that in mind.
