Hi everyone, I just picked up 4 2.5x10" sway-a-ways for my little baja bug. Currently it sits stocks with no modifications to the front or rear suspension. I pretty much made up my mind with how to modify the front (cut/turn beam, fab up some shock mounts, reinforce/guesset the spidles, rods, rod ends, cut off front bump stops and use the "pin and hook" style...etc).
For the rear though I'm unsure how to go about utilizing these shocks. I want to keep the car as level as possible, so I will either have to limit the up travel in the front, or raise the rear a little causing some bad camber.
My question, do I notch the rear spring plates a little for more travel and modify the bumps for up travel, or do i just valve the shocks as good as possible and use the stock travel #'s. I want this to be reliable as hell, I do not want to modify the axles, and it see's a lot of desert (some sand as well).
Basically, will these shocks be enough to get good performance out of the car in the stock setup, or is additional modification necessary to get the best performance?
Thanks everyone, I've been reading a lot of the threads that showed up under the search, however every topic I read about uses really small cheap shocks; so this may be a little different. |

| if you have some welding ability convert it to irs.buy a jig 100$,stock arms and box 100$ junkyard cv,axels, drums and you could have a real susp. for about 500 or less. |
