I could spend you $1200 easy, but it would be better to know your plan for the car.
Do you want to stick with stock bolt pattern wheels?
Do you want to lower it?
Do you have the FI still on the car?
For $1200 you could lower it, rebuild the front end, and add front disc brakes, all from www.toplineparts.com.
OR
From www.aircooled.net I could spent your $1200 on:
Dual Solex 35 PDSIT carbs, SVDA Distributor with Pertronix, Ratio Rocker Arm Set, Street Header & Quiet Pack all Ceramic coated.
That might wake up your engine if it's not too tired. |

Purchasing random parts is not much of a plan. |

I'd agree with Jim....it's really easy to dump $$ into things, then realize " I shoulda........".
You say it's in good shape. What will "probably" need replaced next?
What do you want out of the car...more power, different look, show car....
that may decide where you want to put you hard-earned moolah. |

Sit on the cash until you know 100% the mechanical stuff is right on.
Wheels and tires last when all else is good. |

| The top is new engine has a carb but it does need replacing small leak around push rod tubes interior is in good condition stock wheels basically stock look.I'm looking to add a little power and give it a little custom look. My daughter will drive it 5 miles to school next and cruise the beach on the weekends. |

In that case, a fresh engine re-seal/major tune-up, some adjustable lowering struts and some fancy wheels.
Keep it pretty much stock for the daughter. Give the paint/top/interior an extra good detail job. Enjoy. |

Whew - decisions decisions - OK - so this will be daughters car primarily or second car the she drives as she needs it?
If here car, if leaks aren't too bad, then let em go, drop the front and maybe do some wheels or even just wide white with beauty rings will look nice. An old bug is cool anyway and wheels will make it cooler. Just get Keifernet to rebuild the carb for $100-$150
If its your car and you will get it back in a year or two, then just do the engine (heads, dual carbs) and do the other stuff later. Discs are nice, but if you keep after the stock set up, they will be fine for a while. |

x2
Fix the little odds and ends that're wrong first, then play.
I would collect a few common-replacement items, like all the tune-up stuff, an extra fuel pump (if it's running a mechanical unit), and so on. And a small, but good, toolkit to stash in the car somewhere, along with said items.
It'll keep ya from walking home! |

| I'm leaning towards dual webers 400.00 fuel pump ? disc brakes with spindles and a set of rims not sure if I should stay with 4 bolt or go with 5 bolt (trying to keep wheels under 125.00 each ) then I should be out of cash or maybe negitive a little |

| Everyone keeps saying spindles, but wouldn't a '77 vert be a Super? He'd need adjustable struts, not spindles. Disc brake kits for Supers are reasonably priced, too. |
