| I am looking for a way to cage in the engine of my 72 Baja so parts can not be stripped from the engine. Any and all ideas welcome. |

| consider mounting the cage with extensions into the car, like a receiver hitch. padlocks inside |

Weld on bolts or threaded posts at various points around the top of baja bumper, get some 1/4" thick aluminum, Cut in peices, fit it to cover the engine, drill holes for the posts and bolt it on.
This is what I have been wanting to do, but it is one of those 100 or so projects that I did not want to start until I finish the other 100 I have laying around..... |

I'm doing somthing like this with my next bumper. With the panels bolted on, and a couple locks in place, they will at least have to put some effort into stealing my stuff... and, it might be the coolest looking bumper EVER.

| These are great ideas! The engine will also be protected from debris hitting it during off road use. |

Thats a fairly common cage in Australia, as by law we need to make it so pedestrians cant touch moving or hot parts. |

...apparently in Australia there is no will-power, and a hot engine with an exposed fan belt is the same as a "wet paint" sign.
... I hear that skidplates are soon to be mandated in Australia due to pedestrians throwing themselves under moving cars to lick oil pans.... |

It seems like a good idea to keep little kids from getting hurt. How many of us touched the hot stove as kids even though we were warned not to? |
