Hey all..

I want to start a thread on my 1965 beetle..I should start with a little info about myself first. I'm 51 years old have never owned a vw befor. I bought this beetle about 8 months ago and wanted to restore it to original condition because it's in such great shape, with the exception of some front end damage. After I removed the fenders I realized the left front inner was pushed in and caused the fender to taco a bit. ( we know what a taco is right? ha ha) Anyway, I decided I'd do a baja conversion on it and got the 7 piece kit from EMPI. Sence this is an Arizona car the only rust I have is under the battery box. I have to admit I am feeling a little bit more then a little remorse for doing this to this car, a few more bucks could have fixed it right..........I iknow stop whining.....Anyway, I'll post some pic's, and I know I'll need help with this as I go along. I have been reading the threads here and am more then a little impressed with the knowledge and the way you all help each other out....I hope I can learn from your experience and I hope I can give something back in return

The way I see it is " you cant restore them all ", besides it makes everybody's else's full body cars worth more.

Welcome to owning one of the best general purpose cars, meaning that theyre great on road or off road. Theyre one of the simplest to fix vehicles out there, sure they just have some small odd parts but once you figure out how it all works your on top of the game, also thats what keeps most people away from them. With a baja bug you will impress your self, your friends and those who challenge you and your car to crossing some mud. Good luck with your build. And yes, people on here are always willing to help you out.

Thanks .I'm starting to get a warm fuzzy.......I'll get some pic's up tomorrow and I'll pick your brains as I go with this build...Thank you!

ok.here's my first problem, and I'm just getting started...I baught the right rear floor pan and it doesent fit, BAP says it's the correct part...fit's 1946 - 1972. The pan is shallower then the original, do I have to modify it to fit, or should this match the original floor pan?

Generally, you don't have to replace the whole thing, it is just a patch panel. If the verticle part is rotted, you should use the whole pan half. You can find some local help and conversation at www.azbaja.com also.

Well I got them to the gallery.......What a pain.

By the way I found the installation instructions for the Baja kit, they were printed inder the front deck hood " Eliminate spring props befor installation"
After reading that it practically fell together!!!!!!

well open up 2 windows. one with the picture gallery and the other with the reply. open up the picture you want to post and at the top there is a code titled: forum code. copy that code then paste it into the reply. then hit enter about twice and type your info on that picture. the repeat
