I haven't driven my bug in weeks as I've been having some body work done to her. Yesterday I finally got to get her back on the road and drove her to work. She looks beautiful but she wasn't performing very well as she kept hesitating on me.
Starting off in first was fine but when changing to second in a normal acceleration she would hesitate and sometimes even seem to sputter a bit....I believe once I actually got a backfire! I either had to downs shift, really rev the rpms or I found that (if the situation allowed) if I stopped the acceleration she'd stop sputtering and then with very slow pressure on the gas I could accelerate on.
What's going on with my bug? We had torrential downpours yesterday, could that have anything to do with it? I only mention the weather as I used to keep part of the engine vents covered to prevent water from dripping on the engine as when we'd have heavy rains I'd have trouble starting her.
Thanks for whatever information y'all send my way.....
Scottie
ps: I did just have her serviced. |

It could be the water. Wipe out your distributor cap and spray some WD 40 in it. That may help. It also may be your plug wires. If they have any cracks in them, the water might be causing them to short.
