Most of the companies have stopped buying from the OEM. Not enough profit when trying to compete with the cheaper seals. If you look at page 5 of this link you will see a comparison of generic German vs OEM German. So country of origin is no longer a perfect measure.

The manufacturers make what the vendors ask for. If you try to mark up the OEM seals at the same percentages as the generic German or even worse the Brazilian you would never sell them here. All the OEM rubber I sell is made on the same equipment it was when these vehicles were new. It all has the Jet formed corners as it should. This was an experiment and I can tell you 70% of people in the states still go cheap and some even mock me for trying to provide quality. Then you see them come here and complain a year later when the bargain seals are cracked and or leaking. Baffles me to no end. :?
As a side note I sell 70% of my parts to European customers seems they already get it. |

If it falls off it might get sucked into the fan which is no good and if it's thin crappy tar board then who knows how long it'll last before it gets brittle and wavy.
I'd say either buy more quality tar board or use a more "modern" material. I'm sure Viande will chime in soon and could tell you where to get it
Yeah, I am that pita that tries to advise people to buy stuff that works. shame on me.
I know, the horror! No, we need more people that fight for quality and I honestly appreciate your efforts Viande. Next time I need something, I might just have to get a hold of you  |
