Anyone know anyone reliable to build/rebuild a Type4 motor in Texas or Oklahoma? Didn't know where to post this but here, so here it is. Motor is failing in my '78 (weak, although decent compression, bleeding oil everywhere) want it dependable for the spring season. Someone who could also retro fit fuel injection would be a plus. Thank you for any help or tips.

I would talk to Greg at VG's Bug, Bus and Beyond.

I rebuilt my engine. Greg helped me retrofit the FI. He is a really good guy and builds buses the right way, not the fast, easy way. Greg lives in Tulsa and his shop is in Bartlesville.
I can PM you with his cell number. Tell him James sent you. |

| definitely go with someone that is relatively known. I had a guy in the city do a rebuild last year. Its was the worst work I've ever seen. I ended up tearing it all down again and doing it myself. personally i would suggest getting the tom wilson book and doing it yourself! |

That's the book I used to rebuild my engine. This was my first vw rebuild and went quite well. And I didn't have the luxury of starting with a whole running engine.
Miweis, where are you at and what are you driving? I live up in Edmond but am down at OCU everyday. |

Thank you. I will try to connect with him on Facebook, or I will get the number for you. Rebuilding the motor is just out of my reach for now, but hopefully I can learn from someone and do it myself later. |

| What it will cost you in round trip shipping will be minimal compared to the level of excellence if you have a guru build it.Check out Rich Sedoris.Brotherhoodvw@juno.com.His work is beyond repoach. |
