After owning my first bus for 18 years I decided it was time for a new one and here she is.

I didn't have the motivation to do bodywork on my old bus. I searched Denver's craislist for the last year for a good replacement bus. There were a handful of good contenders. This is the only one I actually checked out. It was posted for 3 weeks before I contacted the seller, I was pleasantly suprised with it. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the paint job, I'm ok with it now.

This bus spent its life in Arizona, the original owner was 67 when he purchased it and held on to it till he was 93. The second owners put only 12k miles on it. The second owner had the engine completely rebuilt, top and bottom, got it running like a champ and sold it to me.

I moved my table brackets to this position so I can open and the bed without removing the table arm. I have the original table but prefer a smaller more manuverable unit.

It is perfect for my laptop and campstove. I can spin the table around and cook from inside the bus with the stove outside, helps keep the bus from smelling like a kitchen.

I pulled my battery yesterday to clean the tray, the tray on my last bus was so rusted I used a metal tray there to keep the battery from falling through

This worked well but I now have a nice rack that mounts on the back.

I took her out to Red Rocks last week, in between snow storms.

My favorite place to see a show.

Looking down at the stage, Denver in the background.

My first bus. My wife and I drove this one around the country back in 98'on a six month trip, without cell phones, laptops, or The Samba. A friend now owns it.

Looks like someone wanted to make it look like a Champagne Edition. Leaving the doorjambs and interior Sage Green was pretty lame.

Leave it brown with the stripes. There's way too many green ones around.

Wow, extremely rust free. GOOD SCORE.

It has its share of scratches, scrapes and dings. The clear coat is peeling but it is solid underneath. I bet the green paint was mint before the repaint. I guess the first owner just couldn't stand the green.

I like it. And the paint scheme, but I really would have liked the Sage Green better. :)

Yeah especially with that green plaid interior already in there, it just makes sense to paint it the OG color to match it. But hey it was their bus and its not going to be worth the time and money to paint it again, because lets face it, the brown is not that bad
Killer bus btw..

My wife and I are planning to paint our bus that very same color. Glad you posted pictures, because now I can get a better idea of how it looks.

Nice, clean bus! I like the relocating of the table to where you put it.

Nice Chocolate Brown Bus! I like the strip as well, reminds me of 1960's surf shirts. Shame they did not paint the interior brown as well, and swap the green plaid out for tan or brown plaid......Nevertheless, enjoy the heck out of it.

I'm glad they left the interior original. The green interior just looks so good with the Westfalia cabinetry, they compliment each other well. The stripes are bright white, I would have toned those down a bit.

My latest VW obsession is the 69 and earlier Squarebacks. I love the style, nice curves, the bumpers and tail lights have that classic look, I got to get me one. Looks like you have a couple. How fun are they to drive?
