I just dropped my engine in my 70 bug to replace the oil cooler. I should mention that I think the engine is later and the cooler does not mount directly to the engine block.
Should there be a large paper type gasket between the tower and the engine case? Or are the four little o-ring type seals sufficient? Thanks. |

| If you are stating that you have an external cooler and not a stock cooler then you should have a gasket between the engine and the flange. The stock cooler takes the two round seals. |

| I think you mean that you have the offset doghouse cooler which is mounted on a mounting block that is in turn mounted on the case. There should just be rubber gasket -- 2 between the cooler and the mount and 2 between the mount and the case IIRC. |
