And usually a grinding noise signifies the bearings are shot ... You might as well take it apart and find out what noise really is....

Of course from picture brake drums could be full of rocks and mud....

| thanks i appreciate it it is definitely from the wheel bearings though nothing where it meets up with the tranny would cause it. |

Drum or disc brakes?
Mud/dirt/sand in the drum would make a similar noise. |

| drums. just replaced cylinders and pads and springs. |
