| My '50 Standard ( no trim ) is in dire need of all new window rubber , but my past experience with replacement rubber has been disappointing . Does anyone have any recommendations as to who can supply the best quality and most accurate reproduction rubber ? Thanks , Gene |

I'm not so sure that either WW or WCM has the proper rubber pieces for the splits. Seems like the proper pieces for doors, hoods and decklids are spread amongst about three or four vendors. |

I've not used them myself but I don't hear too many complaints. |

| Thanks for the leads , I'll follow up , but I've heard some not very encouraging feedback on WW recently , and WCM supplied the seals for my '63 Bus and they were terrible ! The UK supplier is new to me , but I'll check it out , thanks again , folks . |

| Ricardo, (splitpartsunlimited) makes them. I have not tried them but based on comments on all of his parts they are probably very nice. |

| Make sure rubbers are made for thick original glass (if you have them)and the shape of rubber is not blocking airwents on corners. So you might now guess right, I have a set of rubbers from USA and no use... :x |

Following up on my initial question about availability of good quality window seals , I contacted Bobby Womack d/b/a " Aviande " ( via thesamba ), and was able to get OEM quality window seals for my '50 Split Window and also my '63 Kombi .
As I have learned from various sources , most of the seals currently available , are merely extruded rubber that is cut and end glued . The OEM quality seals available from Bobby have the formed corners of the originals .
When I restored the Kombi , I got ALL the seals from WCM a while back , and they ALL leaked . I called WCM and got some bubble head who told me she had never heard of that happening before , and that I must be doing something wrong !
As a VW line mechanic for many years , I have installed hundreds of windows , with no apparent problems .
I was so pleased with the quality of the seals from Aviande , I bought a total of three sets , partly because he may decide to stop importing them due to lack of customers . He feels that there aren't enough people interested in paying for quality .
Part of the problem may be that he is not easy to find , it took me awhile to find him , but he is working on a web site . |

| Thanks Gene, I am glad you are so happy with the seals. Although I knew you would be, the KDF guys love them. :D |
