walk in with a bat, knockoff the snorkel grab it and RUN LIKE HELL. Im pretty sure that thing will have securtiy around it. Is the original owner of it still the owner? The one that did the transformation. Has it been restored to its former glory or is it still original? Snorkel stang is famous. I knew about snorkelstang before I bought a beetle XD dont know how but i did.

Well, tomorrow, I'm going to be calling my mechanic one last time about getting my engine looked at! If he fails to follow through, I'm just gonna go for a full rebuild.

TjdTaylor Thu Apr 19, 2012 5:55 pm

dont you hate that? You keep calling and calling and nothing. Im hassling the guy thats supposed to be painting my car. Hes had it for over a month and hasent toughed it. I gave him a deadline on may first, so we will see.

Beetlebaum Thu Apr 19, 2012 6:06 pm

Yes. Yes, I do. This is holding me up from ordering parts--and I have only a few months to rebuild it when I get home...

iVolkswagen Thu Apr 19, 2012 9:52 pm

Nah, the owner of it now (who lives in the same city as I do  )bought it from the OG builder waaaaayyyy back when on ebay. Its in rough shape right now but plans are to make it back to its former righteous glory. :P

iVolkswagen Thu Apr 19, 2012 9:58 pm

Got my car back, btw. I am so in love with it :P

assuming it all comes apart smoothly and nothing is seized.

Beetlebaum Fri Apr 20, 2012 8:21 pm

Nothing is seized--I've been driving around on this engine for over a year (when it works, of course).

rtaylor Sat Apr 21, 2012 5:04 am

so your only looking at less than a week then :P possibly only 2-3 dayss

Assuming things don't need to be machined and aren't broken!

i meant bolts studs and other things that dont moove. Those things get seized and can be a PITA to get off. My first engine i rebuilt, turned freely, but all the studs were rusted into the block and rusted to the cylynders, we had to cut it apart.

Beetlebaum Sat Apr 21, 2012 10:27 am

iVolkswagen took some pictures of the Snorkelstang, in case anyone wants to see them!

:D

TjdTaylor Sat Apr 21, 2012 10:32 am

the beast lives on

Sh*t! that thing seems to get uglier every time I see it!

Speaking of engine rebuilds, I'm getting together with a local VW builder so he can diagnose what the hell is wrong with my engine.

Hopefully it ends up being nothing serious, but it's really worrying me. :(

rtaylor Mon Apr 23, 2012 6:17 pm

it can be a PITA......but with a whole lot of wiggling, tapping, and yelling......itll be done :o you live right next to a bunch of places that can machine anything you want done on the spot :o I got my case align bored the day i dropped it off.....took another couple of days for them to give it to their guy to bore out the cylinder holes though, but your not gonna put in bigger jugs so no worries! it can be done in a few days......dont be pessimistic. lol

What's going on with yours? Mine's still waiting on the mechanic. But I'm beginning to understand that I can't count on his help with my rebuild.
