So I went to the local Pick n Pull a few months ago to look for some seats for my 77 Westy. In their used car area was a bus, same year as mine. I had been looking for a parts car. They said it didn’t run, there was something wrong with the AFM. I asked if I could fuss with it and if I got it running would the price change, they said it wouldn't. I put in the AFM from my bus and got it fired up. After a quick membership in AAA I had it towed back to my place. Actually drove it off the lot, got smiles from the old grubby characters that hang out there. Just a little… well a lot of elbow grease it cleaned up nicely. No real rust, no Bondo and decent paint. Didn’t really need a second bus but its to nice part out, and for $750 couldn’t pass it up.
Being from the rust belt, it still amazes me what Californians throw away.
Before
After, it will still need some finishing.

| $750? That thing is mint compared to most of the buses on the road in the midwest. I'll give $900 for it 8) |

Great deal! And way to save it from the crusher. I bet someone would buy that whole before you part it out.
It looks like the PO turned it in during the month of May based on the writing on the window.
BTW,which Pick n Pull? |

No plans to part it out.
I found it at the Moss Landing Pick n Pull. The date is when they got it.
Story is that it was left on the street, the Seaside police impounded it then sold it actuation. Seems odd because it came with keys. Judging by the mold on the windows and roof I’m guessing it sat for a year or two before I got it. It has service stickers from Fred’s in Redwood City, I called them but they don’t keep any history on cars. |

No kidding! people from out west take for granted what they have, I saw nicer cars in the junk yard in New Mexico than alot of teh stuff being driven in the S.E.

Nice job. |

| one heck of a deal. Early bird gets the worm. Get the title from the State ASAP before you put money into it. It should be a nice bus for use or resale. You will turn a tidy profit. |

Excellent save. thank you for doing your part! That Bus is 1000% nicer than almost all the (few) Busses I see around these parts(VERY few).
BTW_ What is the policy for a junk vehicle title- has it been marked JUNK, and if so, can you still title it? Here, once it gets to the yard, it is JUNK, and you can forget about any thoughts of rescue. :x |

| Back to your original inquiry as to why? It is symptom of our disposable society. "Just throw it away". Cool Find |

| Dang, you don't know how lucky you are. Iv'e been wanting a running, driving bus for over a year now and theres nothing around here in decent shape. If there is they want big money. You don't know how much I would love to have a bus like that. Wanna sell it? |

| Zoh my god, a find like that on the right coast would be gone as soon as an aircooled enthusiast heard about it. Surprises me what some people consider unusable just based on one, ONE little thing. Reminds me of one time I heard about a nice 1980's Audi 100 for sale at a PA parts yard for $100ish. The problem? It only needed a thermostat. But hey, at least that person's trash is now your treasure! Nice find and good luck. One for the road! =D> |

I would but it would take more time and money than I have right now. The '79 westy has lots of rust.

If you want the '79 let me know i'll sell it. Oh I went and got that early pgsg standard out of that junkyard too. |
