I'm sure that you have all seen the New Empi wheels for sale (Sprint Stars, BRMS, 2 Liters).

They are selling as low as $99 per wheel. Anyone have any feedback on these? I searched this forum and didn't find anything but I am ready to get some of the 5-Lug Sprints today if they check out okay.

Damn, nothing? Anyone else take the plunge?

I thought for sure the prices of these things would at least raise some eyebrows.

Eitherway, I took the dive and bought a few sets. I got some matte black BRM's and a set of 5 Lug Sprints. I am in no way a rim officianato but they looked good and considering I got two sets for what I spent on a set of Flat-4 BRM's alone, I am good with them.

The Matte Black looks so much like Magnesium that they were hard to pass up. I haven't graduated to the "big leagues" to get an OG set of BRM's but these look hella good. Now I guess the Notch will have to sport the Flat-4 BRM's I already had 8)

I purchased the gloss black BRMs from empi and they look real good, i dont care whats real and whats fake, but they look real nice, and are very similar to flat 4s besides the caps

Are you talking about the wheel clearance at CIP1 and the wheels they are selling right now? Cause if you are I just bought a set of the silver BRM's and they are great. I would of spent double for flat four rims but why? The quaility looks great and I was very happy with the new color of silver that they offer. I find chrome wheels to blingy for me and polished alumium requires maintenance and don't look right with a chrome center cap. The other advantage to the BRM style is if you get tired of the color you have , you can repaint them any color you want. I wanted my car to be different than every fricken fuch owner.

The wheels I am referring to aren't the wheels CIP1 is selling; these are made by EMPI.

The Flat-4 BRM's are advertised for $799 per set. The EMPI wheels are $399.96 for a set. Dont get me wrong, I still have some Flat 4 BRM's but the Matte Black wheels are very cool.

Be wary of the EMPI quality!!!

vic Wed Dec 23, 2009 10:59 am

i agree EMPIs quality in their other parts are real bad, but as for their wheels i see nothing wrong with them at all, They are cast just like the flat 4 wheels

they say the same thing about the midland wheels in the UK. I find both the Empi wheels and Midland wheels are worth every penny of what they sell for! you get what you pay for, but in this case, Empi is mopping the floor with the other aftermarket wheel companys.

I was thinking the samething. It seems like they are just about sold out everywhere I look.

I wouldn't mind a set of their 5 spokes. That way I don't have to restore my og's and they can stay on the shelf. They look pretty cool.

The newest repros I have seen are from SSP in the UK.

I'm real curious about the origin of the SSP wheels (not the quality). From the pictures they look just like the EMPI wheels and caps. Again, I'm not making judgement as to quality, or what country they were made in, just the distributor.

Joval Mon Dec 28, 2009 12:34 pm

Sorry, I don't get you..

SSP have them made to their specs in China AFAIK. Note the improved offsets over the current repros from MWS.

What I'm saying is all the specs and appearance match EMPI's. Logos on center caps are exchanged frequently. May EMPI gets theirs from SSP or vice-versa.

Sorry, I thought this thread was about repro'd EMPI wheels, didn't realise they are making or selling wheels now.

garyj Mon Dec 28, 2009 4:01 pm

They (EMPI) are. Tooled up and manufacturing. That IS what this thread is about. I'm not trying to make a problem, just making a point.
