Help a Brotha out the suspense is killing me..
They are great. The new empi wheels are exactly the same as the flat 4 wheels. Flat 4 must have made a deal with Empi.
All these guys that are trashing the Empi name a retarded. 95% of the products that Empi offers are fine, and the exact same product that many other companys sell. How many of you have opened a Empi catalog lately? Mahle, Bosch, Engle, Weber, Solex, KEP, KYB, VDO, Auto Meter, Race Trim, Deist, and Wilwood are a few of the bigger name products that you'll find in there. |

| Germanaire, read the thread and look at my pics. I wod say these wheels are great and was trying to show this in pictures. As to Franz, I completely agree.... Empi is a parts supplier, some good some bad and as a consumer you have to research and pick accordingly. |

| Sorry, didn't mean to quote you too GERMANAIRE, that was aimed at Franz - I'd put money on these wheels being made in China for SSP in UK and sold by EMPI in the US. |

| This has been an interesting thread. I was considered the FLAT4 Fuchs in 112x5 but have decided I'm not putting chromed Chinese wheels on my Bus. I'm going to chrome the factory German steel wheels and call it a day. Chinese chrome wheels cannot be of the same quality as the original German Fuchs made by Porsche. |

Flat4 don't make a Fuchs repro in 5x112.

How can they possibly match the quality of a wheel that was never produced? Fuchs (made by Fuchs BTW) were anodised, never chromed.
SSP do their 'Fooks' in 5x112 and offer a 2 year warranty on both the chrome finish and structural integrity. |

All of these Bay wheels are made in China and a Chinese wheel is not something I'd trust my life with.

You obviously have not been burned by the shittiest of the shitty. 95 percent is fine? Where did you come up with this figure? Lol. Empi/Mr. Bug does not have an original idea in their head, take a look at their carburetors. The 51.1 EPC was done years ago by quality companies like Jaycee and Berg, among others, and it's taken them this long to copycat the concept.
Empi whored their parts to a very cheap automotive demographic, which is why the level of quality in the VW industry is so piss poor. And my opinion stands for Empi products, not all the other bullshit they distribute.
My opinion also stands for their shitty-ass customer service; they don't stand behind their products for shit; I'm pretty sure John Connolly has commented on this fact in other threads. |

:D Hi Folks,
Our BRM and Fuchs wheels for Bug, Bus, Thing and Vanagon are finally here and they are superb! They are MUCH nicer than the CIP or EMPIs and much cheaper than the Flat4s which the manufacturer says are made in the same factory as ours. However, I am not personally guaranteeing they are the same factory as Flat 4 as manufacturers unfortunately tell us whatever they like us to hear these days.
Example: Most items from the JP Group in Denmark are made in China!
The wheels are also very well packed and come with the valve stem, center caps and lug nuts plus a locking nut for each rim.
They are packed in a box with a dust cover and a plastic protector to protect the rim in shipping. We put them in a second box before shipping them out and charge the ACTUAL shipping, no inflated handling or box charge.
You can see more here: http://www.oeveedub.com/vw/wheels.html |
