Conspire to party, to fish, ski, or adventure on the water, these samba cats are the one's to contact! You bring the beer, and they may provide the boat!

After a long time trying to get it down from Washington State, finally the 1967 Oday Outlaw is safely home with me. The flagship of the Oday lineup back in the day and one of 89 built between 1965 and 1968, "Renegade" was a Martha's Vinyard boat until two years ago, and is one of two known examples on the west coast. I built the trailer with a Lincoln 225 stick welder and scored all the running gear from a mobile home yard. Close to 8000lbs (according to the travelift operator), she trailered 750 miles through the night at 55 just fine. Thanks to Jeremy from Surfcitycatarmarans for signing on to help... J Dogg completely made the mission! Thanks to Greg and Clara in Olympia for feeding us both food and hospitality on the trip. That's their famous "Crager Kombi" looking on in the back ground. Notice the flue coming out the roof from the original early stove hack from the 70s. It still works!

I admit, I planned on and pussed-out of sailing it down during the late summer. Way too many safety issues doomed that dream. But hey, I'm still here to dream about a transpac. The Outlaw is pretty small for anything offshore, not impossible, but not entirely safe either. One sailed to Bermuda once, and it's still there.

That "ship" the Wolfe family has, now that looks a little more worthy of a transpac.

Ratt Fri Dec 25, 2009 3:58 am

The ultimate party boat! Shes like a Home away from home. USS Hawaii...

That is moored in Puget Sound.
It is full ocean going. GPS auto-pilot and the works.
Has been to Alaska several times. Next trip planned it to move it down to San Diego, but first he has to sell his 50' cabin cruiser that he is restoring.

Wow, your brother is loaded! Don't know what your 20 is, but if you're around on the west coast cruise, let me know and I may have the Outlaw ready to intercept and say hello.

Rusty67 falls to second place for most gnarly party boat, seriously upstaged by Ratt's reactor powered $2,000.000.000 entry. Mr. Ratt, let's assume myself or another Samba cat came over to Pearl Harbor. Would you be able to get permission to have a guest aboard? Amazingly gnarly! Thank you for your efforts to protect The United States Of America. Oh yeah, could we drink (1) beer on board so we said we partied on it?

Foxx is disqualified for his ineligible entry, moving Dlxcoupe firmly into 1st place for Most Modest Party Vessel.

No, my brother is just frugal. Retired on a Navy Pension and Social Security. He built the sail boat from the hull up himself. Took him almost 10 years to build it.
The 50 footer, he bought after it had been sitting for almost 5 years, and the twin GMC 8-71 diesels were both stuck. Bought the boat for a song. He lives on it, when he is visiting his kids and grandkids in San Diego. Cheaper than renting a motel room. And he will sell it for a profit when done.
