| What filter are you using? |

You need to use a Fram HP1 filter or the Wix equivalent.
Make sure you are not using a big oil pump and pressure boost springs together. |

| I was having this problem with the empi remote oil filter adapter itself. the adapters that I was finding were not milled true to the filter surface, causing the filter gasket to blow out. I had to buy several of them until I found one straight enough to use |

Does it happen when the engine is cold, or after driving awhile? Mine makes crazy high oil pressure until it warms up. I could see how it might happen if driven too hard before a proper warmup.
Just a thought. |

| x2 on the HP1 suggestion. After that, realize that the oil lines are going to be the next thing to blow. Be easy on it, very easy, until it warms up and the pressure gets lower. |

Which is why lots of high HP guys use them. They don't filter for shit, which means they aren't as big of a restriction in the system, which means they aren't as likely to blow up. |

| Just a thought... Were you messin with the oil cooler lines and possibly installed them backwards ??.... it's happened before |

Any body ever use a Motorcraft FL1A, Ford designed them to take 300 PSI. I have never seen one blow. I use them for any HP1 or PH8A application.

They use them because of their reputations... which is no longer true. They have crap internals made from cardboard.
People that truly know what they are doing don't use them. |

| Check and make sure the oil bypass pistons are not stuck. If they are your filter will blow out as soon as engine fires up. I found out the hard way. |

The filter is fed directly from the pump. The oil bypass is between the filter and the coil cooler.
So how will that help the filter? |

| The bypass pistons I'm referring to are the stock oil relief valves lolcated at the front and rear of the engine on # 3&4 side of the case. |

doesn't matter, the pressure will hit the filter before it gets to the releif valve... it's the pressure spikes that blow filters, not necessarily the overall pressure. |

| I run a built type 4 motor, external cooler and remote filter...if the car was cold and you tried drivin it to hard it used to blow filters, you could actually rev the car and visually watch the filter balloon up...now we run fram filters(I hate them too) and let it warm up a bit and havent had a problem since.... |

| sounds like you have too much oil pressure at start up when its cold. Try installing a thermostat for the oil cooler. It will bypass the oil cooler until the oil is actually warm enough to need it. Blew a filter on my baja one morning, installed the thermostat and haven't had a problem since. |

I am courious brianmp01, do you know what oil pump you have in the engine?
I run a K&N 3001 on my drag engine. |

X2
I ran a 36, once, for a very short time. I run 28's for full flow use but I also build just a touch more bearing clearance into my engines. |
