By reversed does he mean that the ring gear is flipped for mid engine use? i was told that you could not flip a bus trans?!?!?
if it is flipped you will have to un flip :D it to use in your standard setup... |

| It was probably a swing axle bus box with redux boxes. Once you remove the RGB's it suddenly has 4 reverse gears and 1 forward gear... lol |

| Technically, you should reset the ring and pinion backlash when you flip the ring gear like this, but I have known people that did not and it worked for a long time. |

| so everything i will need should be there if the tranny is working? all i have to do is open it up and re orrient some pieces? and check some gear lash? |

It could have had the ring gear flipped over or it has reduction boxes.... Either way its a pain.... The transaxle section for the early BUS is same as a TYPE 1 (Beetle) .... Unless trans is free, look for another one that does not have the reverse gearing issue.....

Rear or mid engine?
If the tranny is in the buggy all ready it's probably set up all ready. Why would he need to change anything? |

| If it had reduction boxes then yes, it is flipped, good for mid engine use. But then it is also just a type 1 not a true bus box...dime a dozen... |
