I know the difference between the wide eye and bug-eye and I plan on going with the wide eye kit. I also plan on ordering the kit from MarkV.
As im going thru the different kits i notice:

1. 7 Pc. Broad Eye Kit - Heavy Duty (Extra Thick)

2. 7 Pc. Broad Eye Kit - Headlights fit in fenders

3. Wide Fender Kit

4. Hand Laid Wide Fender Kit

I can guess that #1 is a more durable version of #2 but what is the difference between [1-2] and 3 and 4? All the images look like the same exact image so I cant see a difference. Guys have pics of the one of those kits on your ride?

Typical info you guys will ask :D : Baja is for highway driving, rare off-roading. Still plan on 29-30 inch tires and maybe a small lift 3".

Thx!

You're correct in thinking that the heavy duty kit is a bit stronger, if the additional glass work was done by a chopper gun it's OK, but not as good as laying up the cloth/mat and resin by "hand."

The wide fender designation sort of explains itself, the fenders will be somewhat wider than the standard kits. Along with the extra width you get a little extra weight and the hand laid option would probably help to delay the inevitable clacking, checking,etc/ that's bound to occur during use on/off road.

As strong as the fiberglass is, and as "strongerer" as the hand laid pieces are, they do still bolt on and the flanges/lips can only be so thick and the gel coat is kinda brittle as compared to the cloth/mat and resin portion.

With the better suppliers of these kits, you really DO get what you pay for. If it's heavy duty or hand laid and costs a bit more than the standard kit, there's an excellent chance that it's a better product.

I'm sure that someone else will have more info for you.

Luck,

TC

Fiberglass is REALLY chep to buy. I'd buy the heavy duty kit and place some extra fiberglass on the back side. Mostly close to the fenders and bolt holes to give them extra strength and spread out the load.
