Returning to the sandrail project,

I am using KG oem disc brakes on the front end. The beam is standard width and is centered in the chassis. I tacked on some little brackets that the "chassis end" of the flex brake hose fastens to. Surprise, the brake lines are too short to accomodate the front tire turning from lock to lock.

Sooooo....are there longer brake hoses or do people make a little "outrigger" off the chassis to move the mounting tab closer to the wheel (but short of interferring lock to lock)

Thanks

Jay

Yes, just figure out what you need, and start shopping. Most places list the length of the lines.
You can also have them custom made.

the bus front soft brake lines are longer than your standard beetle lines.
i've heard super beetles are longer, i had a auto parts store get a pair, and they had the wrong ends. i'd go with bus.

I measured the hose. What I have is 14".
What I need is 17".
Does anyone know an oem application for a 17" hose?

thanks

Jay

Early bug and bus use a 19" line.

Sorry, I am a vw rookie.

I looked up brake hoses as you had originally suggested but I see no clear statement that the longer hose will fit an oem disc brake caliper. The exploded drawings are drums.
Some longer m/f end hoses list "Ghia" but I don't know if the years indicated had disc brakes.
Do all Ghia's have disc brakes?

Sorry to be a question machine but the listings assume I know more than I do HA.

Thanks

Jay

the discs use the same end fitting as the drum brakes.

Our brakes use a "metric Euro thread/fitting."
As for Ghia having disc brakes, VW started using disc brakes on the Ghia and Type 3 in 1966.

I think Ghia hoses are longer than Bug/Bus, at least that's what the VW guy told me when I was buying brake hoses for my disk brake equipped bug.

Thank you.

I am lucky to be working with a good parts house.
I'll have a look at the Ghia disc brake hoses.
