Did a search and didn't find what i was looking for....

Our tunnel has a nice hole cut into it to make attaching the clutch cable to the peddle assembly nice and easy. In the process of doing this I noticed that the tube had come unattached from, for lack of a technical term, the partition inside the tunnel. There looks to be a spot where the tube should be sitting in the partition but it's no longer mounted in it's place.

Any suggestions for securing the tube inside the tunnel. Welding inside the tunnel doesn't seem like a good idea even if it were possible.

Thanks for the help

I've never had much of an issue attaching the clutch cable. It's a pain, but doable. The key is to have two people. One person up front with the peddle assembly, and another person in the back keeping the cable taunt as the assembly is mounted back on the tunnel.

I would suspect that the hole cut did something to the tube spot weld. (or did you say that already?) You may be able to use a clamp that is attached by a small bolt/nut.

Like one of these:

The factory spot welded everything when the tunnel was open at the bottom. It would be very, very difficult to weld inside without making a rather large hole somewhere on the tunnel for access...

The hole was probably cut to repair a clutch tube that was loose.
I have repaired many of them in the last 45 years.
I typically cut a triangular hole. And I welded them back closed when done.

That's a great idea!

I always brazed them back in when they broke loose.

Unhook both ends of the gas line and blow it out good.
