could u tell if i put a three tab hood on my 56 bug once its on there?
does any one have a hood for my 56 bug i live in so cal but am moving to nor cal in two months????? help i dont have the knolegde

'62ish, the hood now has a raised area where the VW logo is mounted.

Try mounting it before you paint it though.
Only when the body is mounted on the floorpan you can tell how it fits.

If you can do good metal work, you probally would not be able to tell.

i have put an 54 hood on my 57 and it seems to be wider
it overlaps a bit at the sides
anyone got any ideas :?:

yeah but i know what hood i got buddy its a 54,
it just doesnt fit my 57 oval because it is wider. :cry:

i had a 63 hood that fitted perfectly on my 57 but wanted an 4tab,
so i removed it and put the 4 tab on.
but it seems to be wider then the car :shock:

I think you are right because Before I found my '55 hood I had a '58-'60 hood that I was going to run on my car till I find the correct one. The guys at the shop prep the car and hood so they can mate and right after that I found my '55 hood. The guys at the shop remove the late hood and bolted the early one and guess what? The hood is a bit wider that the later. I had to rework the front quarters to make the hood fit properly.
