http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/12243648voin.html Anyone try one yet?

After the temp has hit the below 30 mark these few weeks out here I've been thinking of a secondary heater to help with my front windshield fog.
I'm not sure though with the power usage if I'd want one and might end up spending the money on a gas heater.

I've got another week before payday so figured I'd check and see before I consider spending this much on a heater. lol

Note on there chart, that the lowest amperage 12V one is 25 amps.
If you are still running a generator, you only have 30 amps to begin with.
If you are running the average alternator, it is only 55A.
Not much left eitherway for lights and ignition system. Ignition by itself uses 6 amps.

I'm on an alternator and I was considering upgrading to one of the larger amp alts though I've been wanting the 85 so I can run a few offroad lights, stereo, and a wench (with spare battery of course) without much worry.

I also need to talk to the local alternator and starter rebuild place and see if they could up the amps in a stock core cheaper then buying one from somewhere.

Russ, it's hard to believe that with no other loads, the coil and points pull 6 amps.

X2. a few weeks ago my alt busted, and the car lasted over two weeks with no alternator. drove it everyday, atleast 30 mins a day. started up fine everyday, till i noticed, that it didn't want to idle, and the lights would periodically shut off, and would only come back on, if i flicked it to high beams and back. to lazy to do the math, but i'm thinking that group 49 battery had something to do with it (940CCA), lol.

Under 4 amps I'm sure.

At 355 watts it might do it. The average electric space heater is 1000-1500 watts, and they will heat a small room pretty easily.

I still don't think I would try it with a generator though. Even if it will run it, generator life would be likely to shorten considerably running it at peak output.

i put one of those in my baja. i mounted it down through the floor behind the back seat and vented it the the original vents. i do need to but another fan on top of it to blow the air through better but other then that it works pretty well
