We had also outgrown the street, the block and the neighborhood. One night, one big party, is not asking for too much from the locals, but 2 or more nights puts a strain on those who do park on the street in front of their house.

Having the "after party" at the track, or host hotel gives it much more room to grow, and gives us a break in the morning.

I think it is a really good thing for the long term. The new venue will also be a welcome change. As soon as everything is signed and settled we will be posting the new location everywhere.

how far is the drive from charlotte to the track saturday night?

MrBreeze Fri Feb 05, 2010 4:57 pm

I'll be there as usual, just gotta figure out the scheduling. I had planned on the usual schedule. Gonna miss that after show on the street for sure.

Regina Fri Feb 05, 2010 7:09 pm

Greensboro is about 2 hours from Charlotte.

southeastvw Fri Feb 05, 2010 7:28 pm

We will get together and see what we can come up to do on Saturday night.
They do have a Nostalgia race there that evening, but we can work out something for everyone to have a good time.

Greensboro is North of Charlotte

my65vert Sat Feb 06, 2010 11:33 pm

may end up just canceling my flight, my flight was non refundable and the new changes to the weekend will not fit in with my flight plans.

So you're gonna drive a Bus now Mike? 8)

my65vert Sun Feb 07, 2010 5:43 pm

I get it, but the bama crew may just head home after the show Saturday. I doubt any of my crew will want to go another 2 hours north...damn

southeastvw Mon Feb 08, 2010 10:18 am

yes the Track is 1hour & 45 mins North from Charlotte

I Hope some of you guys can make it up, but understand if you can't.

fixed it for ya

1 hour and 45 minutes
No worse than driving all over creation for the Winterjam events, the Bulli weekend events and most of the other show weekends.

You definitely end up driving that much or more extra during both of those weekends. Granted CTS isn't bulli brigade weekend, but it never will be if people start backing out because they're afraid to drive!

Because CTS is a different show with a different feel and a different crowd and people plan for it differently. It's NOT the same as Bulli or Winterjam, and there are different reasons why people attend all these events and why some people DON'T travel to those events but DO travel to CTS. And all that is fine. Variety is good (it's what gives these different shows their appeal!), and change can be good, too.

But criticizing or scoffing at the people who are planning to attend CTS for not going to a second show is not going to convince them to go.

58deluxerag Mon Feb 08, 2010 9:27 pm

For the record, I'll drive all the way up there for CTS, but probably won't go to the other show. One thing I dislike about other weekend is all the husslin' around tryin to get places. I like more laid back vw weekends, so I'll probably just head home after the Bus show, or at least get halfway home or something.

Your absolutely right.
CTS is different, however it was always since day one going to be coupled with a show on Sunday, originally Farmington. I hope to keep the feel of the weekend intact even with the changes.
I truly appreciate the folks who come out and make this weekend what it is.
My intent is not to scold folks who are not interested in the Greensboro show, it just seems that the majority of feedback, not just on here, is negative about the travel time between Charlotte and Greensboro.

Hopefully the schedule as it is will keep things leisurely along with providing some variety. I didn't want to put anyone in the position of having to choose between a shop party on Saturday night and partying and camping at the track or host hotels, myself and the rest of the event organizers included.

aah57 Tue Feb 09, 2010 1:45 pm

For the people not going to the Greensboro show, including myself could find a campground or somewhere to finish out the weekend.

MODIFIER Tue Feb 09, 2010 5:29 pm

The reason CTS is different is because it is a group of genuine, honest GOOD friends who will welcome anyone into the group and it makes you feel like you belong there.
Never owned a bus in my life, but this show has become a must go for me.
Great people, no BS, no strangers.
I have been witness (and joined in) to some of the funniest shit talking on the planet.
sidewalk engine build.
Deathbus changing a seal while hammered and taking all the crap that was being slung his way.
This never really happens at the other shows, and I think the atmosphere is the biggest draw for CTS.
Some people may realize it, but most dont.
as long as there is a CTS, I will be there.
bus or not.
