I am trying to find the advertisement from the guy who builds custom parcel trays for type 2's. They were complete with cup holders. Any help?

I got my parcel tray from here. It is the nicest I have seen, works perfectly with my bus. The guy who makes them is very easy to talk to, e-mail him or call him and he will get back to you quickly.

They're nice, but in a past thread I got some pushback from other members because of the price. I'm sorry, but $180 is a lot for a tray and cupholders.

Apparently, the cost of the materials and the amount of labor makes them that expensive.

Personally, I wouldn't mind going for one of those wood ones posted above. However, I really like the look of the BusDepot ones, so I'll probably get that one.

Give em a call and he might be able to work something out. I especially like how my passengers can kick up their feet during flight time.

this also makes a nice cup holder. you can mount it anywhere including your parcel tray.

They always seem to me like something that would REALLY hurt in minor collision. Not that anything in a bus wouldn't. lol

Man, those look sweet! Definitely putting those on my wish-list. Did you special order the wood design?

We stopped making the ones like Hippo's, we called them "Woodies". Just took way too much time to fit the little slats.

But you can do your own. Take the bare wood ones we sell and stain the base, then poly coat. Then cut your own slats from 1" pine, poly coat and screw them down to the base. We can guide you through the process, not hard to do, just time consuming.

Is there anyone who would be able to supply me with the templates for the wooden parcel trays?

I'm not planning on making them to sell, or hinder regalasr's business in anyway. There's a couple of reasons I want to make my own.

- I just made new door panels and they have the armrest/big black vent thingy on them, which means I have to modify any parcel tray I get to work with them.
- I simply don't have the dough to drop a couple hundred bucks on parcel trays. :cry:

Looking at those trays, I'm gonna say "no". I see metal tubing along with the wood so there's more work involved. To make your own use heavy cardboard for the templates. You can easily add or cut material to/from the cardboard and figure out where to add brackets and whether you want to use existing holes or make more. Plus from what I can see in the ad, they shouldn't interfere with arm rests.

Damn those look nice. Is it easy to separate the wood from the metal for staining / finishing?

The wood is screwed into the frame, so yes, no big deal to remove the wood trays and put them back with your own finishing touch.

Possibilities are limitless. Stain the wood, use a paint faux finish, burn some drawings into the wood with a soldering gun tip and poly coat, cover with fabric, cover with vinyl, encase pictures in resin, are some things that come to mind.

I feel you on the wanting to save a few$$ and make your own. Let me stop you there. I thought about it myself, and decided to buy mine. I couldn't be more pleased with the trays. The quality of the tray is fantastic, and the service support is wonderful also. To top it all off, they are just too cool. I suggest you save your pennies and order you a set. You won't be sorry.

Anyone else have these parcel trays? I recovered them with that textured plastic drawer liner that would typically be used in a tool box or something of the sort. So far so good. :D
