Did anyone happen to catch these? I know LED Semas were discussed before. But this is the first time I see that someone has made them.

Did you ever get a set? And if so, how well did they work?

thanks for checking up on me, progress is still slow. Got a lot of things going on right now, I have a friend that has some nice equipment at his disposal, I gave him the brackets the other day, he's gonna try getting something fabbed up. We are looking for something thatbis simple and repeateable. If anyone is desperate to get a set now, I can just sell the lights, and leave the brackets to the buyer to figure out till I can get mine done.

Would the LED Tail Light piece just need to be held by a tab or retainer of some sort, and the bracket modified for clearance? It seems flat enough in the page 2, that possibly one of the tabs from the chrome trim would be able to fold the oppossite way to hold the lip of the LED Light.. and gettting rid of the diffuser... Im shootin from the hip here.. Heres my questions:

1)How much for a set?
2)Does this include the heart piece also?
3)Will you be sending a wire schematic, something for us non electricians?

Sorry for all the questions.. Talk to me goose..

Thanks for the up date Chip - understand you've got more to do than get my tail lights working!! Didn't mean to be pushy - your contribution is greatly appreciated and anticipated.
Cheers,
Ben.

I know its been a while Chip.. just wanted to bring this bad boy up again.. and see if your buddy has had any progress on the heart brackets.. and figuring out how to simplify the process.. Just curious on where you all are at..

Not trying to sound like a dummy, but when were the "heart" tail light assembly used on oval windows? For the whole oval run or just a specific year?

Well it's too late! Completely kidding of course.
I had to look it up myself and it looks like 52-54, and part of 55.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I'm here...not much progress to report on at this time. I've back burnered the project for the time being, not time to work on it, no luck with the brackets at this point, resources are pretty limited right now. I know that this is not the news that you all wanted to hear. Sorry.

Its all good Chip, we understand.. What do you need for resources?? Is it something that we can help with.. Engineering? Do we need to pitch in and buy you PRO-E program, or maybe get you full access to MIT to include use of all test and machining capabilities?? ..

Well.. seriously.. if you need any type of support.. feel free to ask brotha.. Theres alot of support in this community with trades ranging in a wide variety of fields..

Lastly.. Could you post up some pics of where you left off.. when you have time of course.. Maybe we can come up with something or an idea that might help out when your ready to jump back on the lights.. You take care Chip and let us know if you need anything..

Just wanted to give this thread a little bit of encouragement and some motivational support from all the drooling potential buyers.. Sent Chip an email to see how things were going.. We know he has been pretty busy.. but just wanted to check and see how things are:

Chip B. wrote: I need to just finish designing a new set, have them printed and get them available. I'm still trying to address the issue that the radius of the heart lens presents. I have some ideas, its just a matter of finding out if parts exist that will do what I want. I still plan to get them out there. Just no definite timeline as of today. Happy Veterans Day! I appreciate your service!
Chip

Good to hear from you Chip.. and as always.. Im sure the final product will be just awesome.. I was reading a thread where a fellow had just finished rebuilding his 1958 Sedan.. Within a week.. someone has smashed the shit out of the rear end.. The driver of the other car, mentioned he couldn't see his brake lights.. When I read that.. Chips LEDs popped in my head.. Hope to see them soon.. Take care..

I'm still here too, take time and do it right at first time !

vwdamian Sat May 12, 2012 8:00 am

This is exactly what I'm looking for....please make me a set. I hate driving at night always looking in my rearview hoping I don't get hit. Very interested Chip.

Dasdubber Sun May 13, 2012 12:34 am

Although no where near as elaborate as Chip's setup, I had to get a bit Ghetto-chic when my brake light bulb holders broke in my 54 and I couldn't get it registered.

I grabbed some cheap trailer light LED's from the local Supercheap Auto (like Pepboys over there).

Disassembled them and worked out which wires did what

Made a farmyard style mount (had to bend the bulb holder out of the way, but didn't have to remove it)

Effective....yes.
Ghetto.....definitely :)

Cheers
Al
