| We Converted a 74 standard bug over from auto to manual and was told we had to change the shift rod. we used the original shift rod because the replacement was to long. is this going to work or does anyone have any info on a size sift rod we need to make it right. Thankx for any help. |

'73 on T-1 manual - 43 1/2"
autostick - 43 1/8"
'68-'72 T-1 manual - 45 1/8"
autostick - 44 5/8"
To further confuse things the gear shift lever in a 1969 chassis is farther forward than a 1973 chassis so even if you were doing a direct swap of shift rods from a 69 to a 73 it wouldn't work. You'll need to modify it or better yet get the shift rod from a 1970+ beetle.
BTW: where are you located ? .. I still have that extra '69 shift rod from the link above |
