Hey guys, i just picked up some new Combo spindles from Tweeds Designs. He has changed the design to use a Needle Bearing instead of a bushing where the King pin rides. Should last much longer. The King pins are hardened also. Just thought I'd throw up a couple pics.

I'm sure they're smooth as butter, and the look strong as hell.
Very nice! |

After relooking at my receipt it looks like they are $50 more that the old style. Keep in mind that I have been running his old set for 6 years and have had to have the bushings replaced at least 3 times, so in the long run this should be cheaper. And less than half the cost of a set of Foddrils. If you have the old style, he can also retrofit them for the new needle bearings. |

| About time! I have the old bushing style and they are a pain to service. Those look great. Tweed is great service, always willing to help out, and now an even better product. |

Give him a call when you are ready for a rebuild, i'm sure he can set you up with what you need to retrofit your. |

| Thanks for the info Denny. Great idea Tweeds had. Rebuilt mine a few months ago, the bushings were pretty wore out after 1 year or so, and the new bushings wouldn't fit without reaming. Next time it's off to Tweeds for needle bearings. |

Nice to see Tweed's tweaked their web site finally.
I did not see the needle bearings in their web site though. |

No, i don't think he has updated it with the newest set up yet. They have only been out for a few weeks or so. I do know that Foddril and Woods have been using this design on their Race spindles, but at more than twice the price. Steve has always been super cool to deal with and really easy to talk to, so if you have any questions i'm sure that he would be happy to talk to anyone. |

That would be a nice option, but I have yet to brake a chromoly link pin, and I have pounded my car pretty good over the last 6 years. It would be nice on a full race application though. |

You and Skid should be very happy Denny! I'm jealous... :(
This design is pretty much the same as the original Wright Combo spindles since the early 80s.
King Kong Link Pins can be used in these or other spindles by just using the bushings for the larger pins. |
