I picked up a sand rail a short while ago and an extra front raised beam as well. I'm rebuilding the raised/non-adjustable beam to put into the frame as part or a re-do later this Spring. I'm having trouble with the ball joints (stock length) binding up and being at such extreme angles when I mock up the beam.
Since it's been cut, turned, and welded, I obviously can't make any simple adjustments, the arms have been nicely reinforced and I don't want to mess with those if I can help it, are longer/custom ball joints available to prevent binding in raised beams, along the lines of the custom ball joints used in lowered beams?
Any help with this problem, any solution ball joints or otherwise would be a big help ! !
Thanks-

I've heard of clearancing ball joints for extra travel but know no specifics
and i understand maybe there are thing ball joints that are better but again no specifics
Typically you put a stop on your front arms that hits a stop on the beam at a point before the ball joint angle reaches its max. My stops stop the arms about a 1/4" before max of my ball joints and about 1/2" short of maxtravel of my stock length kyb shocks |

| i have wondered about balljoints made for lowered cars. i think they are made to travel lower without binding. would they work for raising a car too? |

| Clearanced ball joints for lowered cars would also allow more travel for lifted cars. The only problems is the more you clearance, the weaker the ball-joints become. If you're at the maximum lift and want more, but travel is not an issue for you, you could always install lifted spindles. Of course, if you do need more travel, you're probably going to need to run king&link front beam or a-arms for huge travel. |

| sway a way used to make ball joints that allows more angle, i think bob humell at race ready products still has a set. but if your binding up at full droop then use limit straps, or maybe your beam cut and turn to much.maybe someone who races class 9 has a solution. |
