You might get a better rebuild job having a local Starter/Generator/Alternator Shop rebuild your starter? It might not be cheaper though? |

Nice score on the muffler and heat exchangers. Those look nice and clean for Michigan parts. 8) |

According to Bentley on page 10 of Transmission and Rear Axle section, yes it should go over the second hump (both humps inside the boot).
Yeah, it's a dirty, greasy job, but I'd rather do them than a headliner. |

CV joints are a nasty afternoon no matter how you want to cut it. just be patient, have a few beers in a cooler, and try not to get the cops out when you finally lose it and start packing grease into the boot in a towering rage, screaming "HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW GREASY BITCH?!"

What I did not tell anyone was that the first re-assembly finished up great....until I looked down on the table and saw two concave washers. So I had to do it all over again.

Ouch. I've done that too. It was on my first set of CVs, nothing like making you humble real quick than seeing extra parts when you thought you were done. |

Why you all do not like greasing C.V. joints? Took me a hour and a half tops, and that was because of the dirty threads.
 I think the reason you all do not like doing it is the fact you think you have to take them apart to grease them. I borrowed a plate with a grease fitting, and pumped until the old grease came out the boot (have to loosen the clamp). The advantage is that it gets more grease in the joint and the boot as reserve. Plus, I like getting dirty, especially greasy. |
