I'm almost finished with a new build but I'm having problems with the hydraulic clutch. I 've searched the posts but still having problems. I have the clutch line bled and I have pressue but Ive almost adjusted the slave cylinder all the way up. I have it in gear and push the peddle all the way down but it still doesn't dis-engage. Am I missing something? I'm getting 1/2-3/4 movement on the clutch. Peddle feels right but still no release.

By manually operating release arm how much "play" do you have till TO bearing contacts pressure plate arms/springs?
Also do you have correct TO/clutch pressure plate for installation....

Dale M is most likely on the right track, the "free" play is hard to feel on the clutch arm, but most probably you are using up the stroke of your clutch cylinder on the free play. I had to adjust mine to within about 1/8 to 3/16 of throw before it got full activation.

It you look from the side of the transmission it looks close to 11oclock before engagement. I bought the engine clutch and all from Outfront motors. I purchased a stock t/o bearing not knowing there were other choices.

I tighend the play to within 1/4" of emgagement thinking the cylinder would do the rest but still the clutch doesn't free up the clutch.

What kind of clutch is it, and what year car? I have a 74 with a Saco clutch, and I found that the push rod on the pedal was not long enough. I had to go down to the hardware store and buy a bolt of the same thread pattern, and make a longer rod:
The new rod is ~1/2in longer than the rod supplied with the clutch, and it now engages the PP fully. |
