Almost all of the latest episode's (Bigfoot in Alabama) driving scenes were flimed not even 5 miles away from where we live. Pretty neat!

Yup----saw one the other night when some guy wanted to pawn a 2007 Volvo semi tractor for 20 grand. He said it had a "Cummings" engine.
Then the pawn broker's "expert" called it a "Cummings", too.

What you do not see, is the their semi backing up to the place after the camera's go off.

You are well known for your VW parts picking skills, Russ.
So----is it true that you taught "American Picker" (and VW collector from Iowa) Mike Wolfe everything that he knows? :?

I can't imagine why the heavy guy left his old job of running the pitcher of water in the wet t-shirt contests.
Those are some good pickers (pictures)

He is from eastern Iowa, I thought he learned from you.

The perfect ride with a bad back.

Russ Wolfe Mon Apr 26, 2010 8:50 pm

A slammed single cab no less.

on the new episode tonight, a Bay window Single Cab and a Thing in a barn in North Carolina. I like the 1950 Studebaker best of all though.

that was a doublecab, which has been made into a tow truck.
that guy is located in Red Cross just outside of Charlotte on the way to Albemarle. He has a lot of cool stuff but as the show said, his prices are retail plus 10%, or plus 50% or 75%.
nice guy though.

Spotted alot of VW stuff. Bet Mike was going crazy.

I want one of those license plate frames! I'd 'pop' for 25 bucks!

With that yard you had to figure he was well know in the area. I didn't expect the American Pickers crew to come out with much. More of a advertisement for the guy.

I like the show. If I had a chance, Id hang up my tools to go "picking" for a paid free ride, TV show or no TV show, in a minute. Bye Bye flat rate.

I love it when Mike and Frank, find somthing buried in the mud, pick it up, pour the water and rust out of it, ask if its "Something they would sell", and the owner says "I got plans for that" HAHHAAa.

Thats the type of answer I usually get. Slide into a place after spotting a VW or 12 laying around, ask if they will part with any of thier old VW's [-o< . I get the look, and answer "Naaaawww I'm a gonna restore emm" . I usually watch them turn into a pile of rusted German iron/alloy shards. Oh well thats what makes them "The Owners". Ill keep stopping when I see something though. If you never ask the question the answer is always "NO".

I think the reason so many "Older Americans" are used in the show is because they got all the good stuff, and have not been introduced fully to the the internet, Ebay, Craigslist, Oh and TheSamba.com. Plus it makes for good TV, to show that the "Deliverance" lifestyle is still in play in the U.S.A. :-({|=
