I was concerned they took advantage of the old buy with the samurai swords/saddle. Wonder if his family knows what he sold and what he got for them? :?
Quote: If the owner died how much of it would just end up in a dump or maybe the family would pay a removal company to "remove" the stuff and then sell it for big bucks (and remember they already got paid to "remove" the stuff).
This is what I mean. Really? Maybe the old guy was kind of senile, suffering from early dementia etc and those two guys took advantage of him. Perhaps the family knows what's there and once dear old dad dies, they intend on selling the family property. Maybe they want to just hold on to dad's property for whatever reasons they have. Maybe...but to say it's OK 'cause it would just be tossed...we don't know that. It just rubs me the wrong way and like others poseted, the "star" seems arrogant. |

No, they're not holding guns, but the episode I saw they only visited two old guys, on farms/property with no one around to give advice/input either. The old guy with the carnival ride at least advised his family and got input. When I get old, I'm going to give my property to my son and his family. Like my grandparents did and my parents after them. Cash is just money; some things are more important then $$$$$. |

| my point is these people are willing to sell whatever the reason....and these dudes are willing to buy....so at least the stuff doesn't get hauled to the dump which happens way more than it should... |

| I just seen a episode tonite. All I can say is I really don't care for the guys tactics at all. Instead of trying to be cool with the sellers he just flat out throws out his lowball offers. WTF. maybe he should try being cool with the people and not just have $$ signs in his eyes. If i ever met that guy I wouldn't sell him shit regardless. Rolling up in the mercedes van...you know hes got deep pockets. I think my favorite thing about the show is seeing all the old horder guys. |

ive seen both shows now and id have to say i really like it. now you have to remember they are filming a tv show so there is some showmansip tha is going on with the 2 guys but overall i think they have a pretty good peration and they have a hell of a lot of vespas in their shop. getting mine painted this month btw. and seeing that they are into vws is cool too. the part that gets me is they roll into thses laces and by 2, 3, 4, items when the places is acked and the peple are ready to sell and tey just leave sooo much behind. id like to see what they paperwork and flyers they leave with the peple say.
maybe they are trying to leave contact info for the next closest kin to call them when the old hoarder dies and they can come in and buy the entire estate? |

Yes a sprinter is "rare" .... I tow them all the time. They are all the same Dodge, Mercedes, Chrysler just different badges. The Mercedes is most likely one of the first to our shores. Oh and that is the most common new "van" for antique people now, taking over the E350s. |

| The latest episode tells me Mike is okay- but the friend Frank is the shister (sp). Frank applies pressure to people who do not have asking prices on their stuff- adn has some insulting remark to make. Mike works in a linear fashion: "wanna sell it? have a price? here's my offer"- then a handshake always seals it- no harm there. Good show. Great fiction. |

Yeah, on that new episode the guide said "a bus find". Turns out one of the old guys stored his stash in old school buses.
I got better vibes from this new episode. The seller of the Vespa Ape held firm in his price, and Mike had to pay it. He still got a good deal, but it wasn't exactly a "steal".
I'm really happy they didn't take full advantage of the old lady at the end. They were offering her $50 for things that she had no idea what they even were! |

absolutely the best part of the show, I have a new freind "oval Les" a real fun guy to hang with, he walks around hunched over and wearing classic farmer overalls with tobacco juice dripping out of the corner of his mouth, his kids all moved and have no interest in the farm so he enjoys me dropping by once in a while and taking interest in his life as well as his stuff, Iv'e only seen inside 1/3 of the buildings so it's like christmas every time I visit, I scored a South Wind heater for a couple hours of feeding the goats and cows, and his wife gave me a basket of fresh eggs to take home!! and yea, he has a cherry oval under a tarp... |

I didn't say that it was rare. I just think it is obvious this guy has money to spend. |

I will say, I like Pawnstars, if he doesn't know what it's worth he calls in the expert, then he low-balls them right after they hear what it could be worth!!
Man I'll never understand that. Professional tells them (right in front of the customer) that it's worth 15k. The pawn dude turns around and offers the customer 7k AND THEY TAKE IT!.. WTF!
Gotta pay for that crack/meth somehow.....
Sometimes people just don't want to bother and want the quick cash instead of maximum cash.
I don't have a problem with the 2 guys and I love the show.....if some old coot sits on a pile of junk for 50 years without trying to sell it, he's lucky if he gets $1 for any of it! Also, the "camera filter" applies.....notice they simply could not take the Nash from the old lady because it didn't feel right....but if the camera was not on them, I bet they would have!!!
Just imagine how annoying that old guy is that hoards those old VW's you want but will never sell, while the VW's rot away.....that is more annoying than what these 2 guys do. |
