Hello all.
My 51, at one point in time before i owned it, had the jack mounts on both sides removed. And of course i would like to replace them. i found some for sale here on the samba, but are there any specific characteristics to the mounts on the split windows? or are they all the same. just thought i'd ask before i went out and got some. thanks |

i have the same question about my '51.
the jack points differ. i believe the passenger side pan was replaced.
which, if either of these is split "correct"?
thanks

Your driver's side (top pic) is correct. I was just extracting and straightening my jacking points that I took off my '51 a couple nights ago, and they are exactly like that.
I can post pics if needed. |

Nancy, what is the thickness of the steel used for the square tubing on yours. It looks thicker than my '51s..... |

| I have a '58 and it still has esentially the same style jack mounts as pictured from the '49, the bottom reinforcement sometimes has a notch cut out on the bottom but could easily be modified, I have seen no suitable repros (yet) but there are piles of the flimsy new ones being made and supplied with repro pans, I would keep an eye out for used ones from later cars, they do not seem to be split specific, just early |

Try comparing jack mounts from a 51 and a 56, they are different. Both the "old style" but with small differences. I don't know when these small changes happen, but maybe there are split specific jack mounts.

had to go dig out jack mounts from my Apr. '55 and another from my '58 for a photo op. , I also walked them both out to the garage to check against my June '52 which are still attached to the car luckilly, I see no difference in design or construction between them except for the notch cut out on the '58 one, this could be easily welded up:
