But if it holds up, I guess I will keep it. It actually isn't as white as it looks in the pic. It does feel good.
So what I did:
1 sand wheel with 400
2 open up cracks with dremel and cone shaped bit
3 filled cracks with filler (they make epoxy stuff for this, but I was being cheap and I had filler)
4 sand wheel smooth with 400, 600
5 spray primer with plastic additive ( I don't remmber right now, but will post info later on brand type)
6 spray single stage paint with touch up gun. I used a full size gun the first time and it was way too much paint, so I had to sand it back down and reshoot.
POR 15 do a Steering Wheel repair kit if anyone wants to try it: http://www.por15.com/STEERING-WHEEL-REPAIR-KIT/productinfo/SWRK/
There's a step by step guide on the site too. |

Sounds like you have been in my position. Everything you just said I experienced. Oh, I got the inspection cover holes to line up, but that only took about 6 hours! I am going to finish this side up and see if I can make it look good, but I don't know about the driver side now.
I feel robbed actually, I bought several hundred dollars worth of rust repair panels for my 56 Ghia project from that 'big ghia spare parts company', not to mention the expensive postage costs and to finally see the quality of the product, was quite insulting. I don't know why we have to just accept and make do with what's available out there for Ghias. I marvel at the quality of Gerson's Type2 products and honestly, I'd be quite happy to pay a lot more if the quality was so much better than what's currently available. :? |

| Honestly, I think he's working on Ghia panels. The problem is he needs to make money on them. People tend to be cheap. |

No progress to report. But finally have the 65 almost done. Will be getting back on this project, but may start my DC while I wait to find some front end sheetmetal. Here are a couple of pics of the 65 someone took and posted. It barely made it to Kelley Park, and was not as done as I was hoping.

Well since you asked:
I stopped working on the 58 to finish the 65 in time for Kelley Park. That sort of happened, but since then I have opened up a can of worms taking on other peoples projects. I was hoping to start a shop in about a year, but that has started out a little quicker than I thought.
I am working on a 64 squareback, 60 double cab, a 54 BD Kombi coming soon, and a clip job on a 61 vert bug, a 60 15 window, a steering box raise on another 60 DC, my 60 DC, my 57 23, finishing touches on the 65 ghia, setting up a legit shop, building vintage bikes, working on products to sell,
AND need to find a complete front lowlight clip to actually progress on the 58. What I originally wanted to do, I will not like the result, so I would like to find the right clip to do the job better. I have been picking up small items here and there for the 58 too.
Sooo, as soon as I can find a front clip, I will get back to the 58 and post more pics! Oh also, trying to scrape enough funds to get a real camera to take better pics! |

| Looks like L469…the best color ever. I wanted to paint my low light L469 to match my beetle, but I got a different gray for it…it seems to have more gray in it and less of the greenish grey that anthracite does….still a good color. |
